Digital Media BA(Hons) is a course that builds on a firm technical base to give you a qualification applicable to a wide range of employment opportunities. This includes learning basic programming, and building a real portfolio of work and social media presence during your first year and throughout the remainder of the course. This is supported by a business and marketing focus delivered through modules taken at our dedicated business school.
As a Brighton student, you will be ideally placed to develop contacts within the extensive local industry network, which includes such resources as the Wired Sussex job board, local conferences, freelance employment opportunities, and placement prospects in London.

Course structure
Studies begin with a broad foundation in digital media technologies and design skills, which leads on to practical work in subjects such as web design and development, 3D graphics and animation, and interactive multimedia.
A distinctive feature of the programme is the optional paid professional placement, which will enable you to put your skills into practice and provide invaluable experience to launch your career upon graduation.
In the final year you will carry out your own major independent project, as well as studying more specialised subjects.
At the end of the first year, you have the option to transfer on to the Digital Media Development BSc(Hons) course should you decide that you would prefer to develop your skills towards a more specialised, technical career.
Areas of study
You'll learn how to design the content and structure of complex multimedia systems using a wide variety of industry standard tools, including the latest version of Adobe Creative Suite and 3D modelling software. You'll also develop skills in creating a range of resources - image, sound, animation, video, 3D and interactive elements - and learn how to assemble them into engaging, usable and useful products and services.

Access to HE Diploma
pass (at least 45 credits at level 3), with 24 credits at merit or above. Level 3 units in computing required.
GCSE (minimum grade C) or Access Equivalent
at least three subjects including English language and mathematics or a science.
Foundation degree/HND
direct to years 2 or 3. HNC may also count towards direct entry.
For non-native speakers of English:
IELTS 6.0 overall, with 6.0 in writing and a minimum of 5.5 in the other elements.
Graduates are well placed to take up positions as producers within new media agencies, to build careers in the digital and social media marketing sector, and to work as a digital media specialist in any number of leisure, information and business-oriented industries.
The fees listed here are for full-time courses beginning in the academic year 2012-13. Further tuition fees are payable for each subsequent year of study.
The tuition fee you have to pay depends on a number of factors including the kind of course you take, and whether you study full- or part-time. If you are studying part-time you will normally be charged on a pro rata basis depending on the number of modules you take.
