    Simone Uroni

    International Travel Management BA(Hons)

I came to the University of Brighton as a result of my interest in travel and tourism and was attracted by this course.

In the three years spent at university I had wonderful and tough experiences that helped me to build skills not only for the industry I am preparing to work in, but also to manage my life with new ideas coming from the university environment. I had the opportunity to meet people from everywhere in the world.

    Professional endorsement

This course has also been very helpful for me to understand the travel industry. This has happened through guest speakers from industry, and the opportunity for students to be endorsed at their final year by organisations such as the Institute of Travel and Meetings (ITM) -  this gives us a strong background into the business travel sector.

Lecturers try their best in delivering their teaching as efficiently as possible in order to create the right mind set for students to be ready for the challenges within the travel industry.

    Good challenges

My personal recommendation to prospective students is that you have to expect good challenges at university and also wonderful times with other students. It will help you understand who you want to be and what you want to do with your future.

My experience at university taught me that there is always more to prove to yourself and to never stop trying to reach your dreams.

    Laura Conway

    International Travel Management BA(Hons)

Choosing to take the optional placement element of my course instead of just doing three years of university was a huge decision to make, but in my opinion such a worthwhile one.

    Achievement

For me, whist it was sometimes challenging working full time, travelling and preparing my placement project (especially when you know some of your friends are still living the university lifestyle!), I feel I have achieved more with the experience of this year and became a lot more independent.

I have thoroughly enjoyed and will miss working in Central London, where I’ve gained vast knowledge and made lasting friendships.

    Getting the job you want

I believe I have learnt I work a lot better than I thought I could under pressure and have been given huge responsibilities, which once I’ve finished my degree will help me along the way to getting the job I really want to do.
