More about our university preparation courses
I found that the course introduced the core principles of marketing, both from an industry perspective as well as from an academic perspective. I liked that the course offered students the flexibility to choose modules to study in addition to core areas. The lectures were conducted informally and within relatively small classroom settings and so were really interactive with lots of opportunity for discussion.
Brighton is a great place to live because it is a thriving, cosmopolitan, little city. Brighton is massively cultural and there is always loads going on in terms of gigs, shows, food and comedy festivals, and everything is within fairly close proximity. However, the best thing about living in Brighton for me is being so close to the coast, which is absolutely buzzing in summer.
One of the most prominent things that struck me about the University of Brighton is that it is an institution that genuinely puts its students’ interests at the forefront of its activities, and it genuinely values their opinions.
I was really impressed with the support I received from all the tutors, but particularly from my dissertation supervisor. All the tutors were very forthcoming with their support, whether it was meeting for group work or meeting to discuss individual projects. I found that the tutors were easy to contact and were willing and able to meet, often at short notice, and during the dissertation process I even received a great deal of support from tutors who were not directly supervising me.
Since finishing the course, I have been receiving a great deal of support from the careers advisory service in my search for the right employment. There is a careers councillor especially assigned to the business school, with specialist knowledge of the business job market and with good contacts. It’s amazing to have access to this kind of resource even when you are no longer studying at the University.
The course not only provided me with the skills to compete efficiently in today's fast moving environment, but also gave me the chance to work and make friends with classmates from various cultural backgrounds.
Compared to my first degree in International Business, where the foundations of a career in business were laid down by touching the surface of a wide variety of areas in business, the Marketing MSc really felt like 'deep sea diving'.
The course tackles the challenges of marketing in an interconnected world with increasingly demanding customers. We were encouraged to question widely recognised but dated concepts such as the 4P's.
Studying the Management MSc at Brighton is a demanding but extremely interesting experience.
You should not apply unless you can meet all the entry requirements for this course. Please contact the course team before applying if you are unsure about any of the specific entry requirements.
