Occupational Therapy and Management MSc (PGCert PGDip)

  • Overview

    This course seeks to enable you to develop your own specialism and at the same time acquire an understanding of key areas of management. It is intended both for occupational therapists who already have some management responsibility and also for those who wish to move into a management role. The `and Management? route enables you to undertake a coherent and substantial study of management and in addition the dissertation will be used to link the study of management and occupational therapy practice.

    Integrated within the university's health and social science graduate programme, the courses provide valuable cross-disciplinary experience through modules shared with other courses in the scheme.

    To be awarded the PG Dip in Occupational Therapy and Management you will need to have successfully completed:

    To be awarded the PG Cert in Occupational Therapy you will need to have successfully completed:

    1 Optional Module


    Normally students are advised to start with the core modules to give them a solid grounding in professional studies. Within the core modules, you will reflect on examples from your daily work and the assessment topic is chosen from practice.

    6.5 overall and 6 in writing.

    Degree and/or experience:
    Normally a qualification recognised by the College of Occupational Therapists and the Health Professions Council, plus minimum two years post-registration experience. Accreditation of prior learning available for masters-level credits.

    Career opportunities include clinical specialist, consultant occupational therapist, occupational therapy management, general management, clinical educator and occupational therapy education. Opportunities also exist for further study at MPhil and PhD level. Successful completion of this course does not provide registration with the Health Professions Council.

  • Fees and costs

    The fees listed here are for full-time courses beginning in the academic year 2012-13. Further tuition fees are payable for each subsequent year of study.

    The tuition fee you have to pay depends on a number of factors including the kind of course you take, and whether you study full- or part-time. If you are studying part-time you will normally be charged on a pro rata basis depending on the number of modules you take. Different rules apply to research degrees - please contact the Doctoral College for advice.
