Course structure
This course is offered in partial distance learning mode.
Areas of study
Two modules on Principles of Practice-based Learning cover; the role of the clinician in facilitating learning; identifying the learner, the facilitator and their interaction; learning theories relating to the practice setting and factors influencing learning; creating a learning environment; methods of facilitating learning; assessment and evaluation; and the development and purpose of learning in the practice-based setting.
Practice-based Learning in Action requires participants to put Rowntree's curriculum model into action in their own practice setting - by planning, implementing, assessing and evaluating a complete learning experience for an individual or group of learners.
Integrated within the university's health and social science graduate programme, the course provides valuable cross-disciplinary experience through common modules shared with other courses in the scheme.
Study may be extended to masters degree-level in subjects such as clinical studies, nursing, occupational therapy, pharmacy and physiotherapy.
The course is now recognised as one of the education routes through the university's health and social science graduate programme.
