Psychotherapy MSc

  • Overview

    This course is recruiting its first intake in the October 2012. It has been accredited by Universities Training College (UTC) of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and therefore provides its graduates with a route onto the National Register of Psychotherapists for registration as a Psychotherapist.

    The MSc in Psychotherapy provides graduates of both Postgraduate Diplomas in Therapeutic Counselling (either Humanistic or Psychodynamic) with the opportunity to further their professional and academic training. It will comprise of a further two years of study during which time students will deepen and broaden their chosen theoretical base in practice as well as develop ways of working with complex presentations of human distress. They will also develop skills in research design and implementation specific to the profession of psychotherapy. Students will need to be in therapeutic practice under supervision and attend weekly personal psychotherapy.

    In addition, the course has the following professional requirements:
    ? Weekly personal psychotherapy with a UKCP registered psychotherapist
    ? Psychotherapy practice under supervision of a UKCP registered psychotherapist

    The fees listed here are for full-time courses beginning in the academic year 2012-13. Further tuition fees are payable for each subsequent year of study.

    The tuition fee you have to pay depends on a number of factors including the kind of course you take, and whether you study full- or part-time. If you are studying part-time you will normally be charged on a pro rata basis depending on the number of modules you take.
