This 12-month programme is aimed at those students who hold an HND, FdA or Dip HE in retail, retail marketing or retail management (or similar) and who wish to obtain an honours degree. The course provides a unique opportunity to join one of the most established and nationally recognised retail degrees in the UK and one that is renowned for its teaching quality, student achievement and graduate success. This course offers a practical understanding of the retail industry alongside specialist marketing subjects and will attract students looking for a top-up that enables them to develop a broad background in management as well as more specific skills in retail and marketing.

Course structure
The degree is taught by staff with practical, research and professional experience in international events and marketing and you will experience a variety of lectures, seminars, workshops and group activities. You can expect to be in the classroom for approximately 12-15 hours a week with personal research also required in order to further support your studies. Progress is assessed using a variety of individual and group tasks and students are encouraged to take a critical and analytical approach throughout.
Areas of study
Depending on their areas of interest, students are able to study a range of modules that build upon and enhance their previous studies and enable them to become familiar with the key issues involved in the strategic marketing of this dynamic and competitive industry. They can also choose from a range of optional modules including public relations, direct marketing, relationship marketing, fashion retailing and retail consultancy. To graduate with an honours degree students must also undertake a research-based dissertation.

The academic nature of the degree provides the opportunity for good students to seek an academic career into postgraduate study on MA courses or in research for a PhD or MPhil
The fees listed here are for full-time courses beginning in the academic year 2012-13. Further tuition fees are payable for each subsequent year of study.
The tuition fee you have to pay depends on a number of factors including the kind of course you take, and whether you study full- or part-time. If you are studying part-time you will normally be charged on a pro rata basis depending on the number of modules you take.
