Sport has become increasingly prominent in contemporary society. The continuing spread of the cultural industries, sport's national and global profile and its contribution to the expression of personal, cultural and national identity, confirm the place of sport at the heart of a global consumer and media culture. On this course at Chelsea School of Sport, you will be taught by internationally renowned staff. In the most recent Research Assessment Exercise Chelsea School of Sport was awarded the highest score awarded to any social-scientific sports submission.

Course content
Course structure
The course comprises of four modules and a dissertation. All students on the masters programme at Chelsea School of Sport study Theorising Sport and Society and Research Methodologies and Analysis for Sport. You will also undertake two route-specific modules which includes Contemporary Issues in Global Sport and one of the following: Sport and Media Practice; Sport for International Development and Peace; Aesthetics, Culture and Sport; Pedagogy, Practice and Social Issues in Physical Education and School Sport; and Professional Enquiry.
Areas of study
The course provides the opportunity to study sport from a critical social science perspective drawing on sociology, history, geography, politics, anthropology, philosophy and cultural studies. The course explores the diverse and complex relationships between sport and culture, sport as a cultural form and its relationship to society.

Postgraduates from the masters courses at Chelsea School of Sport have secured work as university lecturer, press officer, policy officer and sport development officers. This course also creates a sound basis on which to prepare dissertations and from which to progress to research degrees such as MPhil or PhD.

The fees listed here are for full-time courses beginning in the academic year 2012-13. Further tuition fees are payable for each subsequent year of study.
The tuition fee you have to pay depends on a number of factors including the kind of course you take, and whether you study full- or part-time. If you are studying part-time you will normally be charged on a pro rata basis depending on the number of modules you take.
