Course structure
The course comprises 30 weeks of full-time study, delivered over one academic year. You will benefit from school study visits, interdisciplinary seminars, access to workshops, open lectures, and a comprehensive visiting lecturer programme. The course structure provides an opportunity to develop your chosen specialist subject within a flexible and supportive framework, to put studio and workshop activities into context with historical and critical theory, and to relate your studies to professional practice.
Throughout the year our students enter (and win!) design awards, initiate shows in local galleries, and submit and compete professionally. You will undertake work placements, and presentational and self-promotional development. Our degree shows are always ambitious and built around entrepreneurial principles. You will have access to the university library facilities and may attend open lectures, seminars and exhibitions at the Faculty of Arts and Architecture at Grand Parade in Brighton.

The fees listed here are for full-time courses beginning in the academic year 2012-13. Further tuition fees are payable for each subsequent year of study and may be subject to small increases, in line with inflation.
The tuition fee you have to pay depends on a number of factors including the kind of course you take, and whether you study full- or part-time. If you are studying part-time you will normally be charged on a pro rata basis depending on the number of modules you take.
What's included in the fee?
When costs such as health or criminal record checks, field trips or use of specialist materials are incurred as a mandatory requirement of the course they are included in your tuition fee.
You may incur additional costs depending on the optional modules or activities you choose. The cost of optional activities is not included in your tuition fee and you will need to meet this cost in addition to your fees. Before you apply please check with the school that provides your course using the contact details on the left of this page for advice about what is included and what optional costs you could face so you can budget accordingly.

Our graduates leave equipped with the necessary skills, sophistication and focus to sustain a successful professional practice. Graduates are currently practicing locally, nationally and internationally - designing, making, showing and selling their work within the local community and the wider marketplace. Local gallery links, design company contacts, proactive community projects, and teaching opportunities are well used by our students. Collaborative work placements have been conducted in Copenhagen. We encourage postgraduate study at the university and elsewhere as appropriate. Recent graduates have gained places at Falmouth University to study for a MA in Advertising Design and Lincoln University to undertake an MA in Sculpture. A past student has also received one of the coveted best of show awards at the Design and Art Direction exhibition at Earls Court London for his complete portfolio.
