    About the course

    Excited by the possibilities that the web offers, but not sure if you've got the right skillset? This course provides you with the necessary design, technology, management and business knowledge, and helps develop your research and communication skills to work as producers in web and digital media organisations.

    The MSc qualification was developed in partnership with local industry, which identified a need for people who can interface both with external customers and internal designers and developers in order to manage the production of digital projects.

    Brighton is an active hub of digital media contacts, and this innovative environment is perfectly complemented by our teaching style. Initiations to industry conferences form part of our induction on to the course, and local industry leaders are often asked to speak with our students.

    For non-native speakers of English:
    IELTS 6.5 overall, 6.0 in writing.

    Degree and/or experience:
    Normally, a good honours degree in any subject or three years experience gained in a relevant work setting. Applicants must demonstrate broad intellectual skills, research abilities and communication skills. An active engagement with new technologies and an enthusiasm for learning how to apply them are essential.

    Course structure

    This flexible course has been developed with regard to the Skillset (Sector Skills Council for the Audio Visual Industries) National Occupational Standards for Interactive Media, and can be studied either part-time or full-time.

    The course teaches interaction and web interface design together with management skills. Business and specialist interests can be pursued through your choice of optional modules.

    Modules involve approximately 20 per cent classroom teaching and 80 per cent individual or group work, and the course ends with a major project which allows you to integrate your knowledge and skills to create a substantial portfolio piece.

    Areas of study

    The course teaches interaction and web interface design together with management skills. Business and specialist interests can be pursued through your choice of optional modules.

    It ends with a major project allowing you to integrate your new knowledge and skills to make a substantial portfolio piece. This can be done on placement with an appropriate company and support is available to set this up.

  • Fees and costs

    The fees listed here are for full-time courses beginning in the academic year 2013-14. Further tuition fees are payable for each subsequent year of study and may be subject to small increases, in line with inflation.

    The tuition fee you have to pay depends on a number of factors including the kind of course you take, and whether you study full- or part-time. If you are studying part-time you will normally be charged on a pro rata basis depending on the number of modules you take.

    What's included in the fee?

    When costs such as health or criminal record checks, field trips or use of specialist materials are incurred as a mandatory requirement of the course they are included in your tuition fee.

    You may incur additional costs depending on the optional modules or activities you choose. The cost of optional activities is not included in your tuition fee and you will need to meet this cost in addition to your fees. The city is also well known for its exciting music scene and hosts The Great Escape music festival.

    Whether you take your sport seriously or just want to keep fit, Brighton offers all kinds of sports opportunities and facilities, on and off campus. You can also make the most of the location, and play volleyball, basketball and windsurfing down by the beach. The seafront is also the finishing point for the famous London – Brighton bicycle ride and the quirky veteran car run.
