    About the course

    This masters course will enhance your physiotherapy practice. Integrated within the university's health and social science graduate programme, it provides both physiotherapy specific and valuable cross-disciplinary experience through modules that may be shared with other courses in the scheme.

    For non-native speakers of English:
    IELTS 6.5 overall and 6.0 in writing.

    Degree and/or experience:
    This course is for qualified physiotherapists. Applicants should normally hold an honours degree in physiotherapy but applicants with suitable alternative qualifications such as Diploma in Physiotherapy will be considered. Professional registration as a physiotherapist with some post-registration experience.

  • Course content

    Course structure

    A flexible modular framework normally involves six one-week study blocks at the university. To be awarded the MSc you need to complete three core modules, three option modules and a relevant dissertation. The dissertation may be based on research carried out either in the university or in another suitable environment.

    Teaching methods include lectures, seminars, group tutorials, workshops, online and blended learning and laboratory-based work, assessment being by the method most appropriate to the subject.

  • Fees and costs

    The fees listed here are for full-time courses beginning in the academic year 2013-14. Further tuition fees are payable for each subsequent year of study and may be subject to small increases, in line with inflation.

    The tuition fee you have to pay depends on a number of factors including the kind of course you take, and whether you study full- or part-time. If you are studying part-time you will normally be charged on a pro rata basis depending on the number of modules you take.

    When costs such as health or criminal record checks, field trips or use of specialist materials are incurred as a mandatory requirement of the course they are included in your tuition fee.

    You may incur additional costs depending on the optional modules or activities you choose. The cost of optional activities is not included in your tuition fee and you will need to meet this cost in addition to your fees.     Eastbourne has long been the home of pre-Wimbledon tennis tournaments at Devonshire Park. Eastbourne also hosts an extreme sports festival and the Beachy Head Marathon that takes place across the South Downs National Park.

  • Career opportunities

    Career opportunities include clinical specialist, consultant physiotherapist, physiotherapy management, general management, clinical educator and physiotherapy education. Opportunities also exist for further study at MPhil and PhD level.

    Successful completion of this course does not provide registration with the Health Professions Council.
