About the course
This doctoral programme is designed for senior counsellors and psychotherapists who will draw upon their responsibilities and experience in practice throughout the programme. The course benefits from having an experienced team of counsellors and psychotherapists to support your study while also offering you the opportunity to study alongside students from other related disciplines.
The Professional Doctorate in Counselling and Psychotherapy provides education and training in research for professionals and is designed to offer a programme of research-based professional development for experienced practitioners. A course such as this one offers a unique opportunity to professional counsellors and psychotherapists who are looking for a professional and academic programme which grows out of and relates directly to their practice.

IELTS 7.0 overall and 7.0 in writing.
Degree and/or experience:
The professional doctorate is a programme for experienced counselling and psychotherapy professionals. Candidates will normally be expected to hold a relevant qualification at Masters level. In additional they will be accredited and/or registered by (or eligible for this) a recognised professional body in the UK and expected to have at least three years of appropriate post-qualifying experience.

The fees listed here are for full-time courses beginning in the academic year 2012-13. Further tuition fees are payable for each subsequent year of study and may be subject to small increases, in line with inflation.
The tuition fee you have to pay depends on a number of factors including the kind of course you take, and whether you study full- or part-time. If you are studying part-time you will normally be charged on a pro rata basis depending on the number of modules you take.
What's included in the fee?
When costs such as health or criminal record checks, field trips or use of specialist materials are incurred as a mandatory requirement of the course they are included in your tuition fee.
You may incur additional costs depending on the optional modules or activities you choose. The cost of optional activities is not included in your tuition fee and you will need to meet this cost in addition to your fees. The striking Towner contemporary art museum in Eastbourne features international exhibitions as well as a permanent art collection. Eastbourne's six theatres give you a chance to see West End musicals, touring shows, live music and comedy.

Sports
Eastbourne has long been the home of pre-Wimbledon tennis tournaments at Devonshire Park. Eastbourne also hosts an extreme sports festival and the Beachy Head Marathon that takes place across the South Downs National Park.
This programme aims to equip counsellors and psychotherapists to use research methods to interpret theory and research, critique current methods and interventions, and transplant these findings into a form that can direct present and future counselling and psychotherapy practice.
