Professional accreditation
On completion of the course, graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a physiotherapist and for membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
About the course
This accelerated course enables graduates from biological sciences, behavioural sciences and other health professions to convert their first degree to a masters degree. The course consists of three, 15-week trimesters per year for two years. Students on this course benefit from sharing some facilities, expertise and learning events with students on other health related courses.

Applications for April 2013 closed on 1 September 2012. If you wish to apply for a place starting in April 2014, applications will open on 1 May 2013 and close on 1 September 2013. We do not make any decisions before the closing date.
Degree and/or experience:
Undergraduate degree of 2:2 or above (or equivalent for international students) in biological sciences, behavioural sciences or other health professional education.
At least one week of work experience in a physiotherapy setting, preferably in the NHS or other hospital setting is expected before application, please submit evidence of this with your application.
Successful applicants will be invited to attend a selection event comprising a group discussion and an individual interview.
Course structure
Problem-based tutorials, subject specialist resource sessions and skills workshops make up the learning week for campus-based modules. Study focuses on real-life situations, integrating subjects such as anatomy, physiology, pathology, therapeutic skills, behavioural sciences and research methods. Completion of the Project Studies module and the submission of a dissertation lead to the masters award.
Areas of study
The course begins in April and consists of seven campus-based modules and five clinical practice modules. Year 1 is mainly campus-based with core modules in Cardio-respiratory Management, Neuromusculoskeletal Management and Neurology. Year 2 involves mainly clinical practice placements with the campus-based Dissertation Studies running throughout the year. Completion of all modules leads to the MSc in Rehabilitation Science award.

The fees listed here are for full-time courses beginning in the academic year 2012-13. Further tuition fees are payable for each subsequent year of study and may be subject to small increases, in line with inflation.
The tuition fee you have to pay depends on a number of factors including the kind of course you take, and whether you study full- or part-time. If you are studying part-time you will normally be charged on a pro rata basis depending on the number of modules you take.
What's included in the fee?
When costs such as health or criminal record checks, field trips or use of specialist materials are incurred as a mandatory requirement of the course they are included in your tuition fee.
You may incur additional costs depending on the optional modules or activities you choose. The cost of optional activities is not included in your tuition fee and you will need to meet this cost in addition to your fees. Eastbourne has long been the home of pre-Wimbledon tennis tournaments at Devonshire Park. Eastbourne also hosts an extreme sports festival and the Beachy Head Marathon that takes place across the South Downs National Park.
The National Health Service Plan indicates the government's commitment to expand the roles of allied health professionals. Graduates are equipped for careers in the NHS and the private health sector, both in the UK and abroad. After a period of work experience, they can progress to PhD research programmes and contribute to the evidence base of the profession.
