Funding for your own project
For those of you interested in getting a project off the ground we have arranged for funding to be available to support you in this. University of Brighton students are eligible to apply for funding via our Springboard grant. There is up to £1000 available to develop student led projects which have a positive outcome for the local community. It is not expected that applicants will request funds over £250 for a single project.
How to apply
Download and complete an application here. If you would like support in your application you can arrange an appointment to meet with a member of the Cupp team to talk through your idea ensuring your request is feasible. Timeline
A completed project plan must be submitted electronically to Cupp by April 20th 2012. Applications will be scrutinised by a panel including member of staffs from Cupp, Active Student and the Students Union. Applicants will be informed of the panel’s decision by May 11th 2012. Successful applicants will be required to submit a short report at the end of their project which will be included in a larger report to the Springboard Grants Programme.

Springboard Grant Programme
The University of Brighton Springboard Grants Programme provides awards to help fund unique activities that enrich and enhance the student and staff experience. These activities may be academic, professional or extra-curricular and can be undertaken by individuals or groups. This grants programme has been established through the generosity of alumni (former students) and friends of the university

Student Community Engagement is the term we have adopted at the University of Brighton for all work undertaken by students in community settings as part of their accredited curriculum. This can include a practical task or project or a piece of community based research carried out either for or with a community organisation.

On Our Doorsteps Volunteering Fund – bid for up to £200!
This is a fund for students and local residents of the University of Brighton campuses to bid for up to £200 – per project – to create a volunteering activity which involves students and local residents volunteering together towards a positive outcome in the local community.
The Impact Committee 2012-13
A great opportunity available for students involved with volunteering to join the Impact Committee 2012-13. The Committee represents the wide range of voluntary activities that Higher Education students across the UK engage with and is a well-supported and prominent voice for the issues that are collectively faced by these groups in a wide range of different institutions.
The team of 2012-13 will be charged with giving impetus to the Impact Network, an ambitious and exciting proposal to shape the future of UK student volunteering which was presented to representatives from over 40 different universities at the Impact Conference 2012 in Oxford. The Network will organise events, listen and respond to policy, represent the grass roots of student volunteering and work with Student Hubs to support the sector wherever needed. You can be part of this!

Wishing Well
The Wellbeing Zone’s Peer2Pier project is all about getting students involved in the S.U. through volunteering and running your own campaigns and projects.To make this as easy as possible, the Wishing Well is available for you to access money to fund a campaign, and you can bid for up to £250 per project! The mission of UBSU is “empowering students” and this is exactly what the Wishing Well is designed to do – give you the resources you need to make a difference to life for Brighton Uni students. If you have an idea for a project or campaign that you want to run and would like funding for, then the Wishing Well is for you!

It’s very easy for a student to feel unable to change things. But change doesn’t have to be daunting or intimidating. If you make an effort to recycle, you’re saying “I believe in a cleaner world, and I care”. If you refuse to buy clothes from a company that uses child labour, you’re taking a stand against exploitation. The smallest choices we make all make a difference, and some of them can end up having a bigger effect than we could possibly have imagined. Be the Change!
