Description
Stephen Kearney and Julia Olsen are community organising practitioners and co-founded the social action charity Action to Regenerate Community Trust in 1991. The working model they have developed in Regenerate is described as "the engine" of the Cabinet Office's National Community Organiser Programme partnership, where they are lead trainers.
In their talk they will outline the history and their experience of Community Organising -and its emergence in Big Society and Good Society thinking in Britain. They will look at how the Community Organiser programme is opening potential opportunities for people centred development in England and introduce the Regenerate approach to animating and organising community led action that helps communities to tackle root causes of poverty and disempowerment and to stimulate dialogue, political renewal, reform and transformation.
