Together we are:

New Arenas Event Series
The ‘New arenas: football and the community’ programme celebrates both the developing partnership between the three co-located organisations and the opening of the new American Express Community Stadium in July 2011.
This is the second event of a series of three, that will examine the role sport can play in improving community and public health. The final event, early in the new year, will look at how football and sport in general can help re-engage people with education.
Event 2: How can sport improve community and public health?
The half-day seminar will explore what we can do together to improve practice, inform policy and develop valuable projects. This interactive event will involve short presentations from policy makers, researchers, practitioners and service users to help describe the current terrain, followed by discussion and networking to identify how we might want to work together in the future.
The event is for
- Sports practitioners
- Those who work in public and community health
- Local authority and NHS staff
- Schools staff
- Researchers interested in sport and health
- Policy makers
- Funders
The aim is to
- develop policy, research and practice in the use of sport to address public health issues
- develop networks to inform future learning about practice
- develop new projects
