On this page: Informing Health: Meeting Community Needs for Health Information through Library Service based interventions Informing Health intends to form a partnership between key providers and users of health information services in Brighton through the library’s online health information. The project will survey health information seekers using the public library service, run participatory workshops to identify needs and produce design ideas to help the library to meet those needs. The context for this project is a research programme concerned with the relationship between information, health and well-being . One project in this programme is specifically concerned with how libraries (as key access points for health information resources) can work more closely with local communities to better support their health information needs. The proposed project would link closely with, but not duplicate, a project that will run from January to August 2006 which involves a survey of health information seekers using the public library service in Brighton and Hove . That project will produce useful information about individuals using the library service, their health information needs and their experiences of using different aspects of the service. The project proposed here will run alongside that project but will add an important new dimension through its overall aim which is to engage local community groups more directly with library service developments designed to support health information seeking. The project partners are: Health4AllTeam, eb4U; Brighton and Hove City
Primary Care Trust; Brighton and Hove Library Service; Brighton and Sussex
Universities Hospitals Trust and School of Computing, Mathematics and
Information Sciences at the University of Brighton Click here to access the report. |
