Community Research and Evaluation Gateway
Community Research and Evaluation Gateway - School of Applied Social Science | East Brighton Gateway
This project aims to expand capabilities among local community organisations in Brighton and Hove, and within the University of Brighton through the creation of a forum that facilitates peer support and sharing of expertise on community research and evaluation. Building on the experience that the Community University Partnership Programme has already established in matching local organisations’ needs to academic interests on a one-to-one basis, our aim is to co-develop a framework and relevant resources to support an ongoing ‘community research and evaluation forum’. The purpose of this forum is to enable community organisations to work collectively, with targeted support from academics, to share and develop resources for research and evaluation. A small group of academics and community organisations will work together over a series of 6 workshops, to co-develop resources to support community organisations in: articulating their research and evaluation needs; exploring existing service related datasets and information; and developing strategies to support reflective learning, report writing and service evaluation within their organisation. In turn, this would allow participants from the university to: understand the way community organisations develop skills and capabilities with respect to research and evaluation; explore the data they hold relating to important local communities; and develop opportunities for student placement opportunities and socially engaged research.
