Biography

I have over 20 years experience in the post-compulsory sector beginning with teaching in a mental health unit and then within the prison sector before undertaking a range of roles in FE including a main grade lecturer, senior lecturer, curriculum manager, staff development manager and finally as Director of Employee Development before moving into the HE sector to concentrate on teacher training. Teacher training was always my passion and this interest was further developed during the dissertation for my MA when I evaluated the impact of HE level training within FE. I have led a DfES funded research project into the use of Individual Learning Plans for trainee teachers in the Post-compulsory sector and have contributed to a national project investigating the use of Formative Assessment in Vocational Education. My understanding from this primary research together with extensive experience in the FE sector inform my work within the School of Education.
