Biography

Tim was previously a Senior Researcher at Futurelab, a world leading research and development charity focussing on innovation and educational transformation utilising new technologies. Tim led on a number of research and development projects, specialising in areas such as rethinking education and new learning networks, reimagining learning spaces, learner voice and tools for empowering learners, as well as leading a programme developing tools and techniques to stimulate innovation and creativity.

Prior to working at Futurelab he was Head of Evidence and Research at the British Educational and Communications Technology Agency (Becta), where he managed major national ICT research programmes, as well as leading on smaller ‘ICT Research Grants’ projects on behalf of the Government. He specialised in research areas such as the digital divide, home-school-community links and portable computing and was also involved in the development of Becta’s ICT Research Network.

Tim gained a PhD. at Bristol University focussing on ‘ICT and the Reproduction of Social Inequalities’ and qualified as an ‘Innovations Champion’ through the Institute of Leadership and Management.
