As part of the Faculty of Education and Sport, the School of Education benefits from a large range of facilities and equipment. From purpose-built IT suites, a curriculum centre, gymnasium, a number of sports laboratories and university childcare nurseries that are available to both staff and students.
A major redevelopment has resulted in the completion of new lecture theatres, a drama studio, new libraries, refectories and halls of residence.
Specialist teaching rooms
The school houses a range of specialist teaching rooms catering for the broad range of subjects we teach, for example we have:
- fully equipped maths and science rooms
- art and design workshops
- design and technology workshops
- performance studio
- computer suites.
Curriculum centre
The Curriculum Centre is part of the Open Learning Centre located on the Falmer campus in the Checkland Building and is a specialist resource centre containing resources related to the teaching of all National Curriculum subjects.

Libraries
The university’s libraries (with 1,400 work places) contain over half a million books, journals and audio-visual materials and, additionally, have subscriptions to around 8,000 electronic journals.

Physical education and dance
Physical Education and Dance courses take place at our Eastbourne campus, where there are a range of extensive sport facilities including a multi-purpose sports hall, astro-turf pitch, a number of gymnasia, dance studios, swimming pool, weight-training room, human performance laboratories and a new computer media room.
