Study locations

The School of Education is based in the Checkland Building on the Falmer campus where the majority of our courses are taught. Some of our courses are also delivered at other university campuses in Eastbourne and Hastings, at partner colleges and overseas.

Falmer campus

Our Falmer campus is located on the edge of Brighton in a scenic rural location, close to the South Downs Way. It provides a self-contained and intimate community for over 4000 members of staff and students. The campus has good public transport links to the centre of Brighton and beyond with regular bus and train services to the city. See maps and directions.

Eastbourne campus

Our postgraduate secondary PGCE courses in Physical Education and Dance are taught from our Eastbourne campus where students take full advantage of the sports and exercise facilities and dance studios.

Hastings campus

A range of our foundation degrees and primary teaching courses are also available for study at our Hastings campus.

Overseas

Guernsey

We have strong links with the States of Guernsey where we offer the courses listed below. A Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP) is also being developed.

Mauritius

Our Education MA programme is offered in Mauritius and has been established there for over 10 years.

Placements

Some of our courses require students to undertake placements in schools, colleges and other educational organisations. These are fully supported by our dedicated partnerships office.

Find out more about placements and the partnership office.

Partner colleges

University-validated courses are also offered off campus at a range of partner colleges throughout the region.

Off-site learning

Several of our courses are delivered in close partnership with employers and may be run from non-university learning centres. Current and previous partners have included employers and local authorities from across the south-east and courses have been based, for example, in Oxford, Milton Keynes, Basingstoke, Guildford and Crawley. All students on these courses have full access to our virtual learning environment, studentcentral and can access resources through the University of Brighton’s Information Services.
