Fourteen students from the BA Primary and BA Key Stage 2/3 programmes arrived in Nepal at the end of January to undertake their complementary placements in a range of settings including schools for street children, after school clubs for the homeless and orphanages. They also spent a day with Kevin Fossey (Senior Lecturer at the School of Education) ) in Malagiri.

Kevin reports that the school is continuing to develop and the children are very happy and motivated. Each child will soon have a thorough health check. Anita, the Head Teacher, is doing a wonderful job and is now leading after school classes for the women of the village so they can learn to read and write.

The Committee set up to support the school has been considering fund raising ideas for 2012/13 and the challenge for us now, is to keep the school going and to pay for running costs and salaries. We will shortly be launching a direct debit scheme so please keep an eye out for full details.

Kevin says:
“In my wildest dreams, I wouldn’t have imagined that we would have reached this stage at the school in such a short time - this is thanks to you for your wonderful support.”
