The University of Brighton Doctoral College is inviting applications for up to 40 new Doctoral College studentships for the 2012/2013 academic year. Each studentship offers funding to support full-time doctoral study at the university over a three-year period.
Choose to join the University of Brighton as a research student and you will be part of our new university-wide Doctoral College that fully supports doctoral studies within the university's broader research culture. Our support for researcher development has been recognised in 2012 with the prestigious European Commission HR Excellence in Research Award.
You will be assisted in your discovery of new knowledge by a strong supervisory team and a researcher development programme. With many of our researchers world leaders in their fields, you will work in collaboration with the university to build specialist areas of excellence and ensure the work's ability to impact.
Doctoral College studentships based in the School of Education include:
- Living and learning in a digital age: innovation in learning and teaching
- Unexpected educators: the pedagogies of practitioners and professionals
- Research methodology in international education
- The interaction between the academy and the work place
There are also opportunities to pursue research topics in the arts and humanities, life and physical sciences, and the social sciences.
Depending on your circumstances each studentship is worth up to £55,650 over three years and covers tuition fees for UK/EU applicants and includes a contribution of £14,300 per annum towards living expenses.
We would also like to hear from suitably qualified international candidates. The award will be of the same overall value, to cover international tuition fees and a contribution towards living expenses.
The university will be offering up to 40 studentships. The successful candidates will be selected on academic merit and the university reserves the right to offer less than the full 40 studentships.
