Judith Partridge, Early Years Professional Status
When my daughter started nursery about ten years ago, I decided that I wanted to go back to studying. I went to a local college in Eastbourne and gained a Level Three Diploma in Childcare and Development. I then went on to get a job at a local nursery located at Moira House School (Mini MoHo). After about three years working at the nursery I thought I would like to go to university to gain a degree and I’d also heard about becoming an Early Years Professional.
Study progression
To acquire my Early Years Professional Status I would first need to study for a Foundation degree; I could then progress on to a BA(Hons) Professional Studies in Learning and Development. As part of the degree course I have been able to study to become an Early Years Professional (EYP) and I am now the EYP in Mini MoHo.
Help and inspiration
I did all my studying at the University of Brighton because it was local to my work. It meant that I could attend university without too much interruption to my work and home life. I found the University a friendly place and I met lots of people with the same interests as me. The lecturers were friendly and outgoing, always willing to help and ready to inspire you.
I am continuing to study at the University of Brighton. My next challenge will be to undertake my professional enquiry and gain an Honours degree.
