The School of Education enjoys an excellent track record and reputation for developing flexible, high quality programmes. For example, our primary education provision has the highest quality rating (category A) as awarded by the Teaching Agency (TA). Furthermore, our foundation degrees in youth work and early years care and education are endorsed by the National Youth Agency and Sure Start.
Routes into teaching
The School of Education offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses to enable you to train to become a teacher and gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Find out what Initial Teacher Education courses we offer.
Undergraduate

Update to undergraduate BA(Hons) degrees - July 2011
There are likely to be significant changes to our BA (Hons) Primary Education and BA (Hons) Key Stage 2/3 courses for 2012 entry. The length, structure and content of these courses are currently under review, in light of recent government education policy and initiatives, so that we continue to provide ‘outstanding’ undergraduate initial teacher training courses. Postgraduate

Age Groups
The School provides both undergraduate and postgraduate initial teacher education courses for those who wish to teach the following age ranges:
- Primary (3-7) and (5-11)
- Key Stage 2/3 (7-14)
- Secondary (11-16)
- Post-compulsory Education (16+)
