Fairtrade

Fairtrade fortnight

25 February – 10 March 2013

During Fairtrade fortnight Hospitality Services outlets will have some great deals of Fairtrade products and we will again be raising awareness of Fairtrade through displays and point of sale information.

We have also invited our principle supplier of Fairtrade products, Peros, to Mithras House on Monday 4 March to give away Fairtrade chocolate and to encourage customers to take part in the Fairtrade Challenge!

27 February – 11 March 2012

To celebrate Fairtrade fortnight 2012 we'll be offering a Fairtrade loyality card. When you buy any six Fairtrade labelled products from any of our catering outlets you get the seventh free. Pick up a loyalty card at any Hospitality Services outlet and take a step for Fairtrade.

Wednesday 29 February 1–2.30pm, the Chaplaincy will host a 'Faith and Fairtrade' event at Steam House in Moulsecoomb. This will be an opportunity to sample and taste Fairtrade products, experience a craft activity and discuss Fairtrade issues with a representative from Fairtrade. All welcome.

28 February – 13 March 2011

We organised a very successful Fair Choice Fayre at the Cockcroft Building where a whole range of Fairtrade clothing, arts and crafts were on hand to browse and purchase.

During the fortnight we also had homemade Fairtrade cakes available in numerous cafe outlets and money off any cup of Fairtrade tea or coffee.

22 February – 7 March 2010

During Fairtrade fortnight the university arranged a number of catering events and promotions across the university. One of which was a screening of Black Gold.

Black Gold

Around 100 people attended the screening of Black Gold, the award winning documentary film looking in-depth at the world of coffee and global trade as part of Fairtrade fortnight. Complimentary Fairtrade tea, coffee, wine and nibbles were enjoyed by all as well as a successful Fairtrade stall. Elliot Bates of the Fairtrade Foundation provided us with an informative talk on Fairtrade and there was plenty of lively discussion and debate following the film.

23 February – 8 March 2009

During Fairtrade fortnight the university arranged a number of events and promotions across the university.

Fairtrade promotions took place in all Hospitality Services outlets. Loyalty cards for all Fairtrade coffee were available and homemade Fairtrade cakes and biscuits were made.

There was also a very successful market held in the Cockcroft Building on the Moulsecoomb campus, where fairly traded produces from around the world were available and Fairtrade food and beverage tasting also took place. The organisers hope to hold similar events in the future for other campuses.
