Fairtrade products
The University of Brighton operates seventeen cash outlets including restaurants, cafes and bars whilst the Students' Union manages two cafes and three outlets. Fairtrade products are prominent in all of these areas.
We have calculated that as of July 2009 18 per cent of all individual cash purchases i.e. cup of tea or coffee, confectionery etc are Fairtrade. This represented 315,000 of transactions that included a Fairtrade product within the last financial year.
