visions, the festival of
visual performance presents
'Elevation' by wireframe
Friday 25 Tuesday 29 October at Fabrica,
Brighton |
Elevation is a unique theatrical event created
especially for visions 2002, bringing the festival right into the
heart of the city.
Fabrica is one of Brightons best-loved and respected galleries,
situated in the middle of the Lanes shopping district. Formerly a
church, it retains its original 19th century columns, gothic arches
and wood panelling, and revels in a splendid vaulted ceiling. wireframe
has been commissioned to create a subtle, surprising and involving
world in Fabrica, and to bring it to life three times a night.
A figure peers over the precipitous edge. Another looks up into the
heavens
Working with dramaturg Marc von Henning (Primitive Science), wireframe
has created a dynamic narrative that allows you to move freely around
the gallery space as you follow a story of hope, humour, striving
and mystery. As the characters peer down from the balcony and shapes
wheel in the air above you, wireframe use all their skills of textured
sound and lighting to plunge you into a fragile, fantastical world.
..there is movement overhead.
From 12pm to 4pm each day you can visit the free installation in the
gallery - at 4pm, 6pm and 8pm see it transformed into the set for
a moving, magical and thrilling production.
wireframes previous work includes The Lusiads, at the Museum
Of London (Beautiful and imaginative use of sound and light
Whats On; beautifully fashioned puppets
Metro), North Hill Relay (The allusions wireframe conjure are
impressive... love and disillusion crackle down the airwaves in this
nicely eccentric, uncompromising show Time Out), and
visions2000 sell-out At Home (fascinating.. subtle, sensual
and mystical.. pure unadulterated joy Total Theatre),
also invited to festivals in Bulgaria, Taiwan and Macedonia.
wireframe are: Adam Keeper, Mervyn Millar, Ben Pacey and Tamasin Rhymes.
They are joined for Elevation by performers Charlie Llewellyn-Smith
and James Marson, and dramaturg Marc von Henning (Primitive Science).
