Staff from the Faculty of Health and Social Science were well represented at the first ever Students' Union Excellence Awards, winning a number of awards and commendations.
More than 450 nominations were received from students for the Excellence Awards, which are part of the Students’ Union contribution to recognising and rewarding effective course representation, good teaching practice and support at the university. Winners were chosen by a panel of students, university and union staff, and the awards were presented at a celebration in the university’s Huxley Building on 26 May 2011. A highlight of the evening was the students who had made nominations for the teaching awards speaking movingly about the impact staff had had on their academic experience as they presented them with their awards.
