The Faculty of Health and Social Science held its annual interprofessional education conference last month for 275 final year pre-registration students from physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing, podiatry and social work to explore contemporary interprofessional practice.

A series of workshops run by expert practitioners from the field were on offer throughout the day with subjects covering end of life care, working with homelessness, mental health, child protection, health play, children with complex disability, dementia, mindfulness and exercise.

On completion of the workshops, delegates were able to meet up with their student 'buddies' from other professions to reflect upon their experiences of the day.

Julia Stroud, chair of the faculty's interprofessional working group, said: "This conference enables students from our different professions to interact with each other as they prepare to work as qualified and registered practitioners – it offers excellent interprofessional education which relates directly to specialist areas of professional practice."
