The faculty carries out a wide range of internationally excellent inter-disciplinary research. Our work generates new knowledge, improved professional practice, innovative clinical interventions, and a critical understanding of social and public policy for health, wellbeing and welfare.
We work closely with the professions and community groups and with users of research and services to ensure the effectiveness and social impact of our research.
As well as conducting research we are committed to developing the next generation of researchers. We host a number of professional and community research networks and support over 70 PhD and professional doctorate students all of whom benefit from membership of the Brighton Doctoral Training College.
The faculty has been successful in two bids for health research training funding from the National Institute for Health Research:
Clinical Academic Training Programme (CATP) Internship programme:
Two physiotherapists and one nurse are currently completing the internship programme at the University of Brighton from September 2012 to March 2013.
MRes (Clinical Research):
Twelve fully funded places will be available for each of the next three years on the Clinical Research MRes course in the Faculty of Health and Social Science.
We gain funding from high-profile funders including the National Institute of Health Research, the Economic and Social Science Research Council, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, the European Union and many national, regional and local bodies (see recent projects).
