Applications are sought from individuals in a range of discipline areas in the Brighton Business School who will contribute to the research profile of the school through their own publications and through the identification and winning of research funding or consultancy.

We are specifically looking for applicants in the areas of Accounting (BB3138), Finance (BB3139), Financial Economics (BB3140), Marketing (BB3141) and Strategy (BB3142).

The people appointed should be able to demonstrate leadership ability, team working and motivational skills as well as excellent teaching skills and a demonstrable track record in publishing in high quality journals within the field. 

At all levels, the key aspects of the role, while not exhaustive, will be:

  • The development of research/consultancy focused on their area of expertise ideally integrated with one of the research groupings in the school. This will include conducting personal research, leading to publication in high quality journals and possibly co-authoring with colleagues and continuing to referee at a comparable level.
  • The development of research students working around themes related to the applicant’s area of expertise, including Research Degree supervision and examination.
  • Working with colleagues to devise and implement a strategy to develop and sustain research in their field and contribute to discussions relating to the research direction and implementation of the school’s research strategy. A proactive approach to the identification of funding opportunities and submission of research bid proposals via traditional and non-traditional routes and managing research projects to agreed time deadlines within budget constraints.
  • Contributing to the design, implementation and delivery of existing and new programmes that form part of the Business School’s activities and providing intellectual and academic leadership for colleagues in their subject area.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues nationally and internationally to establish networks and networking opportunities.
  • Working with colleagues in the Brighton Business School to develop the research capacity of existing staff and encourage dissemination of research outputs.
  • Working with other members of the professoriate and readers within the school to develop and nurture a culture of research awareness and activity.
  • Providing leadership in terms of research direction and contributing to the development and implementation of the school’s research strategy.

The successful candidate will meet the following essential criteria:

The post essentially requires a person with leadership ability as well as a proven research record.  It is expected that the person appointed will be able to demonstrate leadership ability through successful leadership of teams in the past.

The Professor of Health Sciences will support the development and maintenance of research activity in the Centre for Health Research (CHR) currently located in the School of Nursing and Midwifery (recently voted one of the top 15 in the country).  The post is aimed at attracting a highly qualified researcher who is internationally and nationally recognised as an authority in a field complimenting the research programmes in the CHR and with experience of research capacity building.  We have a growing research culture in the school and we have ambitions to extend this into further research developments in collaboration with the School of Health Professions as part of our Health Sciences Strategy.

Research Fellow in Optical Diagnostics for Sprays

You will have the opportunity to develop your current skills and knowledge base and to learn techniques including long-range microscopy, laser-induced fluorescence, particle tracking velocimetry, and a range of advanced image processing techniques. Research Fellow in Electroanalytical Chemistry

The key aim is to develop devices of benefit to scientists in the field of ageing research and you will be responsible for the design, fabrication and electrochemical assessment of the sensor device as well as applying this device in two important applications akin to ageing research. Academic Liaison Manager
