The University of Brighton has five campuses in three coastal towns in the south-east of England – Brighton, Eastbourne and Hastings. There are three campuses in Brighton: Falmer, Moulsecoombe and Grand Parade; and one campus each in Hastings and Eastbourne.

The academic year at the University of Brighton typically runs from the end of September until the middle of June, but the actual dates that courses start and finish can vary from course to course.

All students who are studying in the UK for six months or more are eligible for healthcare through the National Health Service (NHS). Students staying for shorter periods can use NHS services but may need to pay.

If you are an undergraduate or postgraduate student entering the first year of your course and you are paying international fees, you are guaranteed a place in halls of residence if you firmly accept an unconditional or conditional offer from the university and return your completed accommodation application form by the deadline.

International undergraduates who apply after this date may be offered a room in halls if possible, but this is not guaranteed and any choice is likely to be limited. International postgraduate students will be allocated rooms (if available) at the Great Wilkins Halls of Residence on the Falmer campus.

No, the tuition fee only covers the cost of the course itself. The amount you will pay for accommodation will vary depending on the location and type of accommodation and whether it includes meals.

A Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) is a reference number issued by UK universities and other educational institutions. You need a CAS to apply for immigration permission - either entry clearance or a visa.  

When you receive an unconditional offer to study at the University of Brighton, the Admissions Department will automatically send you your CAS by email.

You will NOT have to ask us for your CAS. If you have a question about the CAS please send an email to admissions@brighton.ac.uk.

Yes, you can work while you are studying at the University of Brighton. However, if you have a student visa, which allows you to work, you must not work for more than 20 hours per week during term time. Working more than 20 hours per week is a criminal offence which can lead to a fine and/or imprisonment and can lead to removal from the UK.

If you wish to go to another country for a study trip or holiday, you should contact that country's embassy in London to find out if you need a visa and how to apply.

Yes, all of the university's courses are at a high enough level for the purpose of the PBS.

The University of Brighton is registered as Licensed Sponsor (pdf) under the Points Based System (PBS) immigration system and has Highly Trusted Status under Tier 4 of the PBS.

Tuition fees vary depending on the course you study. To confirm the fees you must pay for your course, check the course description online using the course finder. The fees are listed in the 'Tuition fees' section for each course.

If you are starting a course with us in September 2013, you must provide us with your tuition fee deposit of £1,000 by no later than 31 August 2013. The deposit must also be paid before we can issue you with your Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) number. You need a CAS number in order to make your visa application.

Fees are payable in full at the start of the course (or by 1 November). However if you choose to pay your fees by direct debit you can pay in up to six instalments. If you pay your fees in full before 1 November 2012 you can apply for a five per cent fee refund after that date.

Yes. If you pay your international fees in full before 1 November  (or within four weeks of the formal start date of the course if it starts after 1 November), you can apply for a five per cent fee refund on your tuition fees. 

The University of Brighton offers over 40 scholarships to international students each year. Each scholarship reduces your tuition fees by £4,000 for each year of your course.
