Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon (including Warwick Castle)
A weekend trip (Saturday and Sunday) to Oxford, famous for having the oldest university in the English-speaking world, and Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare.
There is the opportunity to visit some of the century-old Oxford university colleges with their open quadrants, and to explore the university's world-renowned museums and collections, including the Bodleian Library. The library is situated at the heart of the historic University of Oxford in a remarkable group of buildings spanning over 500 years of history.
Accommodation on the Saturday evening is in a typical family-run guest house in Stratford and includes full English breakfast. Theatre tickets are available for a Royal Shakespeare Company performance at one of the Shakespeare theatres on Saturday evening.
Sunday includes a guided walking tour of Stratford, and a visit to Warwick Castle, a medieval castle set in beautiful surroundings with towers and a dungeon. Falconry displays, jousting, stalls, archery during the summer months and an ice-rink during the winter, are additional attractions of this wonderful castle.
