Your university username

When you register for library and computer services you will be given a university username. This will give you access to most university computer systems including:

  • University desktop computers
  • Your university email account
  • studentcentral

Your username will be made up from your initials plus a number to make it unique, eg abc1

You will also be given a password to keep your username secure. You will be held responsible for any activities that are carried out using your username and password. Someone knowing your password could use up any printer credit you have paid for. Never tell anyone else your password!

In addition you will be given an email address which is normally your initials and surname separated by dots, eg. a.b.circuit@brighton.ac.uk
People can contact you both inside and outside the university using this address.
