EndNote is a software programme that allows you to store and organise your references and create bibliographies or insert references into documents in whichever style you require (Harvard, Chicago, MHRA, APA etc.)
The EndNote desktop software programme is installed on the University network and is available on all the computers in the university pool rooms and libraries. You will find it in 'applications' on the desktop. In addition there is a free web version EndNote Basic which can be used on any computer.
EndNote desktop version
This version is recommended for staff and researchers as it has more functionality. The University of Brighton licence allows for the installation of EndNote on any University-owned computer. EndNote Web
This online version is available free to all staff and students registered at the University Brighton as part of our subscription to EndNote. It offers most of the facilities of EndNote with a few exceptions and a few extras. The most important benefit is the facility to access your library from any computer with an internet connection. You must register to use EndNote online using a University of Brighton computer - see instructions . Note that you will need to renew your registration after one year. The online version is recommended for students or anyone working away from the campus as it can be accessed from any computer.
Apps for EndNote:
Endnote for iPad is a new app available to purchase from the iTunes App Store. It allows you to collect and store references and synchronise them with your web account.
RefScan is a free app for iPad which allows you to search for references via the Web of Knowledge database and send them to your EndNote web account. You can also use the app to import references by scanning the DOI of a printed document.
