When you activate your computer account you will be given a university username and password.
Your username will be made up from your initials plus a number to make it unique, e.g. abc1
You can use your username and password to access most university computer systems including:
- university desktop computers
- email
- your networked folders
- the university's wireless network
- a number of web based services such as staffcentral, studentcentral, staffmail, LOCO workshop bookings
You will be given a password to keep your username secure. You will be held responsible for any activity that is carried out using your username and password. It is very important that you don't tell anyone else your password by email, by telephone, in writing or in person. No member of university staff should ever ask you to tell them your password.
You should never type/enter your password unless you are logging in to a University of Brighton computer system, such as those listed above. Note that our web based services all have brighton.ac.uk in their address. If you don't see brighton.ac.uk in the address, don't enter your University of Brighton password.
If you want to change your password, you can use the MyInfo facility at https://myinfo.brighton.ac.uk.
See here for advice on what makes a good password.
