You don’t need to wait until you arrive at university before getting acquainted with our computer systems and libraries.

Once you have accepted an offer of a place, you will be invited to ‘activate your university computer account’. This will allow you to access the New Student area of our virtual learning environment, studentcentral. Here you can find out more about life at university, get information on accommodation and other essential services and chat with other students.

Once you have completed your online enrolment you will be given a university email account and a lifelong email address, which you can give out to friends and family.

Although you can’t borrow any books before you start your course, you can visit the libraries and use the reference material we keep here. To find out more about where our libraries are and when they are open, click the link to Libraries, on the left.

If you are planning to buy a new computer, you may like to look at our Computer Store information. As a student, you will be able to buy computers from our own suppliers at prices we have negotiated with them. For more information, see Buying your own computer.
