Your password Print

You will be held responsible for any activity that is carried out using your username and password. It is very important that you don't tell anyone else your password.

If you want to change your password, you can use the MyInfo facility at https://myinfo.brighton.ac.uk

What’s a good password?
When choosing a new password you should remember passwords must

  • consist of between 8 and 16 characters (letters, numbers, spaces and permitted symbols)
  • contain at least one number or permitted symbol, eg any of 01234567689  !$%&’()*+, /; = > < ? [ \ ] ^`_{}
  • contain at least one UPPERCASE letter and one lowercase letter eg Aa
  • not contain your username
  • not start or end with a space
  • not be easy to guess by anyone who knows something about you

The following would not be suitable passwords:

  • warning                it contains no numbers, or uppercase letters
  • Good1?                 it contains less than eight characters
  • NOTTELLINGNE1     it does not contain a lower case letter
  • your car reg. no.    it is too easy to guess
  • abc1pass              if your username is abc1

IMPORTANT: If you type in the wrong login details 10 times within a 15 minute period, this will result in your user account being locked for 15 minutes. The account will be automatically unlocked after that time. This is to prevent unlimited guessing of account credentials, particularly by automated brute force attacks.

Note that some systems allow you to save your university username and passwords. Whilst the university does not recommend storing passwords in this way please ensure that any devices that store passwords are updated should you either change your password or have it reset.
