Scan chapters and articles to provide them as online course materials Print

We will scan texts and images from paper sources and make them available as course readings via your Aspire reading lists.

Copy & paste this list with your information into an email for your campus library

  • Module or unit code
  • Module or unit title
  • Module or unit owner (instructor)
  • Module/unit duration in weeks, allow for resits, maximum 52 wks
  • Number of registered students on module/unit
  • ISBN of book or ISSN
  • Title of scanned work eg chapter or article title
  • Journal year or volume number if a journal article
  • Author(s) of chapter or article eg E. Pankhurst        
  • Title of book or journal from which extract is taken
  • Publisher
  • Page numbers eg. 5-39

If you prefer to scan items yourself, you must read these guidelines to scanning materials and then do the following:

1. Confirm your extract is covered by our licence
(sections 1.2 and 1.3 of the guide)

2. Documents not covered can be put aside for alternative action (sections 2 and 4 of the guide)

3. Complete online the Digital Copy Record  for the extract

4. Print the copyright notice for the extract from the link offered after submitting the form

5. Using the copyright notice as the cover sheet, scan and check the extract (section 1.5 of the guide)

6. Place the extract in Aspire or on a CD-ROM (section 3.3 of the guide) or in a Powerpoint Presentation (section 1.5 of the guide )

7. Review/remove digital copies at least annually (section 1.7 of the guide)
