Fire and emergency procedures

Staff in any of our buildings will be happy to show you the exact locations of emergency exits, refuge areas and visual alarms (where they exist). Please do not attempt to use lifts in the event of an emergency.

Your Head of School or course tutor will agree a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) with you for all buildings you will use while at the University. Your Information Adviser in the library, Senior Technician in any media centre and technician in any computer pool room can give you details about emergency evacuation of particular libraries, media centres and computer pool rooms.

If you are a visitor to the University of Brighton and you have mobility or other problems that might affect your escape from the building in an emergency situation, please mention this to staff on arrival. They will agree an evacuation plan with you which you should follow in the event of an emergency.
