Accessing online resources Print

All of our online resources can, and should, be accessed via the Online Library. The types of resource listed are varied and cover many subject areas. Most are licensed resources that Information Services pay for and are therefore available to University of Brighton staff and students only. Most of our resources are available from off-campus. This could be your home computer, an internet cafe or another organisation.

In the vast majority of cases, as long as you access our resources via the Online Library you will authenticate (i.e. log in) correctly.  On following a link from the Online Library, if a username and password is required you will be prompted to log in with your university username and password (i.e. the one you use to log on to studentcentral) before you get to the resource.

If you try to access our resources via a search engine (e.g. Google) or bookmark or you try and log on somewhere that doesn't specifically ask for your university username and password, you may find that you are not able to log-in correctly and will therefore not be able to access the resources that you are entitled to access.
