How can I print from a university computer? Print

You can use the Network Printing Service to print from all our open access computer rooms and libraries.

 printer dialogue

From the File menu select Print and the Print dialog box will appear.

If necessary, choose a different printer from the Name box and select which pages you want to print then click OK. If you want to print in colour you must select a colour printer and if you want to print in b&w you must select a b&w printer.

Your print will then be spooled to a Printer Release Station. Printer Release Stations are normally located next to the Blue Printer Credit Stations and look like a standard PC.
If you are working in a teaching pool, or in a library some distance from a printer, your document will wait in a queue (for up to 24 hours). When you are ready to collect it, you should go to your nearest Printer Release Station and tell the printing system to begin printing (release the job) as follows:
1 Press any key to display the Log in screen.
2 Enter your usual login name (username) into the Logon ID box.
3 Enter your password into the Password box.
4 Click the Log on button.
5 You should now see a list of any documents (jobs) you have sent to the printer. Notice the balance total displayed at the bottom of the screen.
6 Click on a job in the list. You should see details of how many pages (sheets) it has and how much it will cost (look above the Balance Total).
7 If you wish to go ahead and print the document, click Print. If you decide you don't want to print, click Delete and you will not be charged.
If you do nothing, your document will stay in the queue for 24 hours from the time you sent it to be printed. Your document will then be deleted from the queue and you will not be charged.
Your document will be printed on the first available printer. If you print more than one document at a time, they may be sent to different printers.
Click the Log Off button before leaving the Printer Release Station.
