Saving to your networked University Folders Print
Using university computers - Saving your work

  1. To save your work, go to the File menu and select Save As.  The default save location is the Documents library which defaults to your networked (University Folders) drive. It should look something like this:
  2. Save as box

  3. This is your networked (University Folders) drive.  If you want to save to there, simply click the Save button. If you don't see your files displayed, click the Documents link on the left (or Libraries/Documents) and then Save.
  4. If you want to save documents to any other place, click the Computer link on the left and find the disk/pen drive you are looking for. Below you can see that a Kingston USB memory stick is plugged in. Just double click on it to see the files you have saved there.

Uni Services You'll find an icon called University Services  on the desktop of any open access computers. Simply open this folder to find links to various university services, including your university folders (as shown below).

Uni Folders

If you click on links to Documents (as seen on the left above), this will also take you to your University Folders.

You have 1 GB (1024 MB) of disk space in your University Folders. This is enough space to store many documents. Before you start filling it, it may be a good idea to plan a useful filing (folder) structure for to keep your work in. You could for example create separate folders for each of your modules. Most important - remember to make back-up copies of your important documents.

You can not currently access your University Folders from outside the university, but this should be possible in the near future. See the next page for instructions on copying your work onto other disks and drives.

If you want to access your University Folders from the university's wireless network, see University Folders via wireless
