Exchange 2010

Information for Staff

Staff email accounts are provided on a Microsoft Exchange 2010 server.

Exchange provides tools for managing your calendar, to-do lists (Tasks) and address book (Contacts) as well as organizing your mail messages.

Look in this section for more information about using Exchange 2010 server at the University of Brighton.

You can also submit your own questions - no need to supply an answer. After typing your question click on the floppy disk icon to submit your question.

We ask for your contact details in case we need more information to be able to answer your question, however your personal details will not appear on the website.

Can I access a functional account (shared mailbox) via the web?

Yes.

  • Log onto your personal account using staffmail via the web at https://staffmail.brighton.ac.uk and your personal username and password
  • Click on your name in the top right-hand of the screen
  • Type the username or email address of the functional mailbox you want to access
  • Click on Open.

The functional account's mailbox will appear.

If you need to view both your personal mailbox and the functional mailbox at the same time:

  • Open the functional account's mailbox using staffmail via the web:
    • Log onto your personal account using staffmail via the web at https://staffmail.brighton.ac.uk and your personal username and password
    • Click on your name in the top right-hand of the screen
    • Type the username or email address of the functional mailbox you want to access
    • Click on Open.
  • Open a new tab in your web browser.
  • Type the URL https://staffmail.brighton.ac.uk

This will open your personal mailbox in the new tab, allowing you to work with the functional account's mailbox in one tab and your personal mailbox in another tab.
