Who is this course for?
If you are thinking about Higher Education in the UK, this year-round pre-sessional course will help you to improve your English to ensure that you are fully prepared. You do not need an English language qualification to apply.
Key facts
- You do not need to take a formal English langauge test to enter this course.
- You will take an online placement test to see which stage is most suitable for you.
- Successful competion of the final stage 'consolidate your English', will enable you to continue to a University of Brighton degree course at undergraduate or postgraduate level without taking a separate Enlish language test.
- International students can take this course on a student visitor visa.
- We will help you to prepare for your next IELTS test (if required) and with your application to a UK university degree course, which ever university you are applying to.
The English for Academic Study (EAS) programme consists of up to three 10 week stages. Where you enter the programme depends on your current level of English.
- Stage one - develop Your English at intermediate level.
- Stage two - extend Your English at higher intermediate level.
- Stage three - consolidate your English at lower advanced level.

Studying EAS at the University of Brighton could be of great benefit to you - you will develop a solid foundation in general and academic English and you will extend your understanding of British culture and English academic conventions.
Our EAS courses are based at the university and taught by tutors who understand the skills and knowledge that you will need for academic success. The EAS programme will also provide you with an excellent opportunity to meet other students and get used to academic life in the UK before going on to study for a degree.
