Many of our students first come to Brighton or the towns nearby to study with one of the English language schools or university preparation courses here.
Brighton is a great place to live and learn new skills. If you’d like to continue your English language tuition to prepare for university study, in a university environment, then you can join us at the Brighton Language Institute.
If you are in the local area already, you can visit the Brighton Language Institute and our Open Learning centre at the Falmer campus of the University of Brighton.

We can help to find the right course for you.
You can choose from three course types:
- A short course to consolidate your English language or to get a higher level of qualification before you start your University of Brighton degree course: We offer a range of short pre-sessional courses.
- A pre-masters English language programme: The extended masters combines masters degree study and pre-sessional English language tuition. Typically one visa will cover both parts.
- A course to fully develop your ‘academic English’ in preparation for applying for university study in the UK: English for Academic Study is an extended pre-sessional programme with start points throughout the year. You will not need to take an IELTS test to progress to the university if you successfully complete your programme.
