Debt

Most students leave university with a debt. It's not always a bad thing if it's just a student loan but debts can quickly add up.

If you started your course before 1st September 2012, you only need to start repaying your loan once you are earning £15,000 a year.

If you started your course after 1st September 2012, the threshold rises to £21,000.

Any existing student loan debt will be written off after 30 years

Most debt problems can be resolved if dealt with in time. Using simple tools can help you get your finances under control and get you back on the right track.

Even if you are not deep in debt but are starting to worry about your financial situation, contact an advisor at the Student Advice Service to make sure your debt does not spiral out of control.

Don’t wait – take action now.
