Spring into action
As the new year and a new decade has arrived, this is the perfect time to embrace those positive changes you’ve been putting off.
It’s hard to keep up New Years Resolutions, so we want to give you some ideas about things that are achievable and sustainable.
It might take a bit of effort at first, but small and simple lifestyle changes introduced into your routine can wash way the winter blues and make you feel really positive about yourself. Most of the free & cheap exercise suggestions are things you can enjoy with a partner, friends and children.
They say a healthy mind leads to a healthy body
Financial changes
- Review your budget. A Student Advisor can help you explore possible changes and how to maximise income and reduce expenditure.
- Have spend-free days. Walk or cycle to Uni, prepare a packed lunch, enjoy a night in with friends
- Sell unwanted items – Christmas presents, clothing, books or cd’s, computer games etc. Check out Community@brighton.ac.uk, eBay, Gumtree, Friday Ad
- Make/adapt your own clothing or teach yourself to knit.
Physical changes
- Use the Uni gym at Eastbourne or Moulsecoomb. Different rates apply for members/non members. Contact the Eastbourne Sports Centre on 01273 633706 or the Cockcroft Sport Centre on 01273 642126 for further details.
- Make the most of the beautiful countryside and unspoilt landscape on your doorstep, and enjoy some fresh air by going for bike rides or walks. It may not be picnic weather just yet, but you could take a flask!
